StellarisDB

Use StellarisDB in your guides

Copy any technology, civic, origin, trait or empire build for Reddit, Discord, Steam and forums, or show our cards on your own site. Free — keep the link to us. Cards update themselves after each patch (now Stellaris 4.5.2).

Copy for Reddit, Discord, Steam and YouTube

Every technology, civic, origin, ethic, authority, trait, perk, tradition, megastructure, relic, building, district, job, edict, policy, decision, component and encyclopedia page has a Copy button under its name; tables have one on each row.

Copy ▾ gives the same thing in every format: Link (Discord and Reddit show a preview with its lines), Reddit Markdown, Discord (a short line plus a small print line, no tables), Steam guide / forum BBCode, plain Text for a YouTube description, HTML for a blog, a Picture — the card in the game's tooltip frame as a PNG, also 1200×630 for a post — and for technologies the console command.

+ List collects things while you browse. The List button at the bottom right exports them all at once: a Reddit or Steam table, a Discord list, text, one picture of every card, or a link to the list for your readers.

The empire builder copies a whole empire — ethics, authority, origin, civics, species and traits, each linked — and gives an embed for blogs.

Try it

Psionic Theory (hover it)

Reddit gives you: **[Psionic Theory](https://stellarisdb.com/technologies/tech-psionic-theory)** — Rare tier 3 society technology · Psionics: Cost 4,000, -5% Empire Size from Pops, -10% Army Morale Damage Taken, Unlocks Shroud Observatory · Stellaris 4.5.2

Builder: every output for one thing

Search anything with a card; each box has its own Copy button. Every card you pick also goes into the HTML list.

Hover cards on your blog or site

One line before </body> and every link to stellarisdb.com shows the game's tooltip on hover (and on tap on phones).

<script src="https://stellarisdb.com/tooltips.js" async></script>

Options

Set them before the script, <script>window.stellarisdbTooltips = { autolink: true, theme: "dark" }</script>, or as attributes on the script tag: data-theme="light" data-icon-links="false".

OptionDefaultWhat it does
colorLinkstrueColour links to technologies by their research area (physics, society, engineering, rare).
iconLinkstrueA small game icon before each link; iconSize: "small" | "medium".
renameLinkstrueA link whose text is the bare address gets the thing's name.
theme"auto""auto" | "dark" | "light" — tables follow the reader's dark mode and your page background; cards always use the game's dark tooltip.
touchtruePhones: the first tap shows the card, a second tap on the same link opens it, a tap elsewhere closes it.
autolinkfalseFind names in article, .entry-content, .post and link them (or mark a block with data-stellarisdb-autolink).
pingtrueOne anonymous count per page view (your domain and how many cards it shows) — no cookies, no personal data; ping: false sends nothing (privacy).

What the script looks for

  • Any link to https://stellarisdb.com/technologies/…, /civics/…, /origins/…, /traits/… and the other pages with cards, and /go/… links.
  • data-stellarisdb="technologies/<slug>" on any element: a card for that thing. data-no-tip or data-stellarisdb="none" turns it off.
  • data-stellarisdb-card on a link: the full card in place (the link stays inside it).
  • data-stellarisdb-list="technologies/a,civics/b": a table of cards (icon, name, type, key lines), each row linking to its page.
  • data-stellarisdb-embed="empire:…": an empire build, read-only, sized to fit (copy it from the empire builder's Copy menu → HTML embed).
  • data-stellarisdb-autolink on a block: names of technologies, civics, origins, traits and the rest in its text become links (the first time each appears; never in headings or code).

Forums: one BBCode tag

For forum admins (phpBB, XenForo): add a [stellaris] tag once, and members link anything by name or by its page.

phpBB 3.3

ACP → Posting → BBCodes → Add a new BBCode. Two tags; phpBB's {SIMPLETEXT} allows Latin letters, numbers, spaces, commas, dots, minus, plus, hyphen and underscore — no apostrophes, so names with one use the page form.

By name — BBCode usage / HTML replacement:

[stellaris]{SIMPLETEXT}[/stellaris]
<a href="https://stellarisdb.com/go/{SIMPLETEXT}">{SIMPLETEXT}</a>

By page (the builder above writes it) — usage / replacement:

[stellaris={SIMPLETEXT}]{TEXT}[/stellaris]
<a href="https://stellarisdb.com/go/{SIMPLETEXT}">{TEXT}</a>

Members then write [stellaris]Psionic Theory[/stellaris] or [stellaris=technologies.tech-psionic-theory]Psionic Theory[/stellaris].

XenForo 2

Admin control panel → Content → BB codes → Add BB code: BB code tag stellaris, Replacement mode "HTML replacement", Supports option parameter "Yes", HTML replacement:

<a href="https://stellarisdb.com/go/{option}">{text}</a>

{option} is the value after = and {text} the text between the tags. For names alone, add a second tag (e.g. stellarisn) with option "No" and <a href="https://stellarisdb.com/go/{text}">{text}</a>.

How /go works

/go/technologies.<slug> always opens that page; /go/Psionic Theory opens the page with exactly that name, else our best search match. Add our script to the forum template and these links get hover cards too.

Notion, Ghost, Discourse, Medium, WordPress

Paste the link: our pages carry Open Graph previews (name, kind, key lines, icon) and an oEmbed endpoint (https://stellarisdb.com/oembed?url=…), so editors that support link previews or oEmbed show a card; shared empire-builder links have an oEmbed too.

WordPress: put the script line above in your theme's footer or a Custom HTML block, then link to our pages as usual.
